On foot, we make our way to the center of St. Johann in Tirol. Among the locals, St. Johann is better known as “S\u00e4nihansn.” With approximately 10,000 inhabitants and a historically pronounced market right, St. Johann is therefore a market town. Small but mighty, this beautiful place is located at the end of the S\u00f6ll-Leukental valley. The region was already settled by Celtic tribes in the 4th century BC. These were displaced by the Romans, and the region was transformed into the Roman province of Noricum in 15 BC. <\/p>\n

You will learn everything about the historical development of this region, the importance of mining activity around 1540 at the Rerobichl near Oberndorf in Tirol. Likewise, the baroque redesign of St. Johann in the 17th and 18th centuries led to the nickname Baroque St. Johann and is omnipresent. <\/p>\n
