of history. The church<\/strong> and the Planta Tower<\/strong> with its swallowtail battlements<\/strong> form the most characteristic landmark of M\u00fcstair<\/strong>. The Planta Tower<\/strong> \u2013 presumably the oldest<\/strong> residential tower<\/strong> in the Alpine region \u2013 now houses the monastery museum<\/strong>. It offers a glimpse into the monastery rooms, from the cloister and the Gothic refectory to Baroque cells. The complex is completed by the Holy Cross Chapel and the Bishop’s Residence. This ensemble still shapes the appearance<\/strong> of the monastery<\/strong>. Originally<\/strong> founded as a monastery for monks<\/strong>, it has been a purely female convent<\/strong> since the 12th century<\/strong>.
