Every year in March<\/strong>, it’s that time again: the dusty<\/strong> paragliders<\/strong> are taken from the cellar<\/strong>, the suitcase is packed, and we head to the weather-favored southern side of the Alps<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Many of our customers use the training<\/strong> after the long winter break to get back in shape and trained for the new flying season. And this makes perfect sense<\/strong> and brings joy<\/strong> at the same time. <\/p>\n

A group<\/strong> of max. 14 pilots takes off, and the gathering\/carpool of the traveling flyers usually starts from Munich. From there, we continue into the Inn Valley, over the Brenner Pass to Trento Nord, where we turn into the Valsugana Valley. We then follow the Brenta until we reach Borso<\/strong> del<\/strong> Grappa<\/strong>. And just like that, the first<\/strong> mountain range<\/strong> from the sea<\/strong> opens up, home to one of the best<\/strong> and weather-favored<\/strong> flying areas<\/strong> worldwide. Before we really get started and take to the air, the landing site<\/strong> is discussed. In the afternoon,<\/strong> when the sun slowly sinks lower<\/strong> and disappears, the mountain wind<\/strong> sets in, and for this option, there is also the appropriate<\/strong> landing direction<\/strong>. After so much flying<\/strong>, a rest is also necessary. Every morning, a joint weather briefing was on the agenda. Together, the respective day was analyzed and discussed, including why the weather is as it is, what that means for us, and how the day is likely to unfold. <\/p>\n

We all had a lot of fun<\/strong> with Heiko<\/strong>, as he contributed to us becoming a real<\/strong> tree recovery team<\/strong>. Don’t worry, Heiko<\/strong> didn’t fly into a tree<\/strong>, at least not at the launch site, but<\/strong> his canopy really wanted to launch, and Heiko, already clipped in forward, was unprepared for the oncoming<\/strong> gust<\/strong>, and just like that, half<\/strong> of the canopy<\/strong> was caught<\/strong> in the tree<\/strong> behind Heiko. Oh<\/strong> Heiko\u2026.:-)<\/strong> <\/p>\n

The days passed, and we were able to fly every day, except for Wednesday, which proved too stormy and rainy. So we stayed on the ground, and everyone pursued their personal wishes. From SPA<\/strong> with sauna at Garden<\/strong> Relais<\/strong>, to olive oil<\/strong> shopping at Oleificio Gnesotto<\/strong><\/a><\/span>, to taking a walk, exploring Bassano City, drinking cappuccino and Aperol\u2026. <\/p>\n

In the evening, at the request<\/strong> of our participants<\/strong>, we went once more to Antica<\/strong> Abbazia<\/strong>, where we comfortably<\/strong> ended the week with a final good meal and Limoncello<\/strong>. On the last morning, before<\/strong> we started our journey home<\/strong>, we first drove up towards Cassette<\/strong> to get an idea of the wind situation. No sooner said than done, we were partly fogged in repeatedly, and the wind<\/strong> also came from the southeast<\/strong> due to thermals. So we went back down to Stella<\/strong>, where we productively used the waiting time until the fog cleared, and Christian<\/strong> used the time<\/strong> to practice reverse launching<\/strong> and ground handling exercises with launch aborts. <\/p>\n

All steps were explained by me again, step by step, and recorded and provided via video for the students. (for practice at home) Christian<\/strong> was able to reverse launch<\/strong> the canopy<\/strong> multiple times and controlledly<\/strong> lay it down<\/strong> again. Until Peter meant well with us, the fog<\/strong> receded<\/strong>, and Christian<\/strong> promptly put his first reverse launch<\/strong> into practice.
