*All prices include the guide service of a licensed Austria Guide or state-certified mountain guide. All external services, outside the tour guide service, such as transportation of guests, catering services, gondola rides and similar are NOT included in the price .
Travel allowance: If the tour starts/ends in or takes place in a location where no tour guide lives, a travel allowance of at least €30 per day will be added to the fee.
Freelancers: Fair prices for valuable work
Tour guides, guest guides, travel guides, and mountain guides work on a freelance basis. This means that approximately 50% of their fees go toward taxes (social security, income tax, business tax, etc.). Including preparation and follow-up work, the hourly wage should be similar to that of an advertising agency, at around €70 to €100.
The tour guide is in Austria a a8> regulated profession. The comprehensive training lasts 1-3 years and costs approx. €5,000. It covers history, art history, customs, geography, group dynamics, experience staging, dramaturgy, storytelling, conflict management, nonverbal communication, entrepreneurial skills, and much more.
