What to expect:

Just 10 km east of the state capital Innsbruck lies Hall, with the largest completely preserved Gothic old town. A jewel beyond compare, considering that even the mint was moved from the former residence city of Meran in South Tyrol to Hall to Ansitz Sparberegg under Archduke Sigmund the Rich.

Likewise, the first Guldiner was minted in Hall, and a few years later, around 1550, roller minting occurred for the first time. This would not have been possible if the abundant silver deposits in Schwaz had not been discovered. So one thing led to another, and over time, the regional princes were very keen to have silver mining, minting, and transport via the Inn not far from each other. The salt mining from the Halltal, which branches off to the north directly near Hall, also came in very handy. People were aware of the saline rock even before Christ, but the large-scale salt mining only began in the Middle Ages.

As you can see, it is very interesting to visit Hall, and I look forward to bringing you closer to Tyrolean history in Hall in Tirol.

What will you be able to experience and see:

✓ Burg Hasegg with Museum Münze Hall
Replica of a water wheel construction for driving the coin minting machine
Modern graffiti from the city of Hall and other cities in Europe
Bronze statue of Archduke Sigismund the Rich
Absolute highlight: Visit to the St. Magdalenen Chapel with the Last Judgment fresco and the Gothic winged altar
Visit to the Parish Church of St. Nikolaus and the Waldauf Chapel with the large relic collection of Knight Florian Waldauf and the Gothic Palm Donkey
A MUST SEE: Former “Royal House” and today’s Town Hall, newly built in 1447 with wonderful beams, tiled stove, colorless glass based on Venetian models and intarsia work
Upper town square with late Baroque Marian figure and the bust of the “Wild Man”
Stiftsplatz and Herz Jesu Monastery, bronze statue of Archduchess Magdalena, the sister of Archduke Ferdinand II.
Jesuit Church and Ladies’ Monastery on Stiftsplatz are considered the only church buildings of the courtly late Renaissance in Tyrol
The Stubenhaus of the former Stubengesellschaft (meeting of the rich citizens and nobles to influence politics) rebuilt after the city fire in 1447

TIP: Konditorei Weiler Hall! Whether Johannisbeerbaiser (currant meringue)-, poppy-marzipan-, plum cake, iced coffee, espresso or cappuccino, a stop after an informative city tour is a must. As a souvenir, I recommend the chocolate coins as a heavenly reminder of the coin minting city from the Middle Ages.
