What to expect:
Kufstein was and is a popular bottleneck between Tyrol and Bavaria as a border town. Kufstein was besieged, bombarded and set on fire many times. Why and how is explained and elucidated in an interesting way. Don’t worry, it will be exciting.
The first settlement of the Kaiserbachtal with the famous Tischofer Cave, the Inn as the most important means of transport in the Middle Ages, St. Nepomuk, the old water bastion, the Marienbrunnen fountain, the town hall and, of course, the largest open-air organ in the world are also part of the city tour. Not to forget the founding of the first savings business in Austria, the idea of childcare and the first kindergarten, Kink’s Tyrolean cement industry and sewing machine invention, all this and much more are part of this infotainment tour.
TIP: At 12:05 after the midday ringing, the organ concert begins, which should not be missed. It is a highlight of Kufstein. In addition, there is another concert at 6:00 PM in July and August.
Meeting point: If possible, I recommend 10:30 AM as the ideal meeting point at the Fischergries bus parking lot

What to expect:
High above, on the 90-meter-high fortress mountain, the majestic castle towers high above Kufstein. What might the fortress walls have experienced? How exciting would it be if Emperor Maximilian I or Hans von Pinzenau could describe their view of things to us. Or Margarethe of Tyrol, who, as sovereign princess, outlived her husband and son and handed Tyrol over to the Habsburgs in 1363.
You will learn more, either comfortably with the fortress lift or on foot via the old ascent with drawbridge, we will climb the fortress. Once at the top, you will explore the fortress area with me and get to know the various rooms (both inside and outside). Always with a view of the geographical entrance “into the land into the mountains” that is how Tyrol/Kufstein was called in the past. The Pendling, Thierberg Castle and the entrance to the Kaiserbachtal are particularly beautiful to see from up here.
We will also see the two replicas of the famous cannonballs “Purlepaus” and “Weckauf” in the Emperor Tower. From the torture chamber, the escape route of a knight’s collection of Maximilian to an exhibition from the 20th century and a great video animation of the most important historical highlights, you will experience all this high live. As Andreas Hofer used to say: It’s about time Manda … 🙂
TIP: warm jacket, gloves and good shoes.
It can get cold, high up.
