Bled & Bleder See
A trip to Lake Bled is like a journey into a fairy tale. Nestled in the picturesque backdrop of the Julian Alps, this idyllic spot in the Upper Carniola region offers unforgettable experiences for nature lovers and adventure seekers alike. The lake, known for its impressive island with its picturesque church and the majestic Bled Castle, attracts numerous visitors every year.
We begin our day with a traditional boat trip on Lake Bled. The pletna boats, elegant wooden boats, take you to the small island where the Baroque Church of the Assumption awaits. Here you have the opportunity to enjoy the friendly atmosphere and ring the famous bell, which is said to bring good luck. Motorboats are prohibited on the lake, which contributes to the tranquility and purity of the nature experience.
Another highlight of the region is Bled Castle, which sits high on a rock above the lake. From here, you can enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding area and the lake. The castle also houses a small museum that tells the history of the region, as well as a restaurant where you can sample regional specialties.
A well-maintained path runs around the lake, ideal for leisurely strolls or active hikes. The beautiful natural surroundings and varied views of the surrounding mountains make every step an experience.
Last but not least, our visit to Bled should not end without the famous Kremšnita – the original Bled cream cake. This delicious dessert is simply a must and rounds off your trip perfectly. Come and enjoy the natural beauty and unique culinary experiences that Bled has to offer!
I would be happy to organize and supervise your trip to Slovenia!
Postojna Cave
Postojna Cave – the most visited world of underground wonders
The Postojna Cave or grotto is considered the most visited tourist cave in the world, and for good reason. An underground cave train takes you along the world’s first cave railway into the interior of the cave, between thousand-year-old stalactites, through large halls and past hidden tunnels. The 24-kilometer-long Postojna Cave is a place where you can meet “dragon babies” and where incredible animals hatch: cave salamanders. Near the cave is Predjama Castle, the largest cave castle in the world, where the legend of the fearless robber baron Erasmus von Luegg lives on.
Did you know:
Although Postojna Cave is the second largest accessible stalactite cave in the world and also well worth seeing, it is not classified as a World Heritage Site. Instead, the nearby Škocjan Caves are a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Predjama Castle
Welcome to an unforgettable adventure in south-central Slovenia! Discover the majestic Predjama Castle, a truly fascinating structure dramatically nestled into a massive rock face. Perched above the picturesque village of Predjama, this Renaissance castle is not only visually impressive, but also steeped in history and mystery.
The entire complex is open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and invites visitors to immerse themselves in its fascinating past. A tour of the interior of the castle takes about an hour. I recommend that you allow at least 1 hour and 30 minutes to also visit the Erasmus Cave located beneath the castle.
The Erasmus Cave extends an impressive 123 meters into the rock and forms a widely ramified system of cave passages that is directly connected to the castle. This connection was not only important for supplying the castle’s inhabitants, but also served as a secret escape route in times of danger. The cave tells stories of heroic deeds and unexpected escapes – it is a place where history comes alive.
During your tour, you will have the opportunity to explore the upper floors of Erasmus Cave. Impressive stalactites and stalagmites await you here, while the soft lighting brings the unique shapes of the cave walls to life. Please note that the cave has a constant temperature of around 10 degrees Celsius. It is therefore advisable to bring appropriate clothing to make your visit as comfortable as possible.
The combination of the imposing Predjama Castle and the mystical Erasmus Cave makes this place an outstanding destination for history and nature enthusiasts. Let yourself be enchanted by the magical atmosphere and enjoy the breathtaking scenery that this region has to offer.
I would be happy to plan your visit—your journey back in time begins here!
Moni’s tip: The distance between Predjama Castle and Postojna Cave is about 9 km. The journey by coach takes only about 20 minutes.
Piran and Portorož
Discover the beauty of Piran and Portorož
Welcome to an unforgettable journey to Slovenia’s picturesque coastal paradise! On our trip, we will explore the charming town of Piran and the sophisticated seaside resort of Portorož. These two places offer a perfect blend of history, culture, and relaxation.
Piran
A jewel of Venetian architecture
We begin our exploration in Piran, a town renowned for its beautiful old town. Tartini Square, named after the famous violinist Giuseppe Tartini, forms the heart of the town. Here you can admire the impressive elliptical buildings that bear witness to Piran’s former heyday. A visit to the majestic St. George’s Church is a must; it towers over the town and offers spectacular views of the sparkling Adriatic Sea.
A walk along the accessible city walls allows you to experience the charming alleys and squares of the city from a new perspective. The walls tell stories from times gone by and offer breathtaking views of the sea and the surrounding area. Another highlight is the lighthouse, which you can climb. From here, you can enjoy a fantastic view over Piran, the open sea, and even as far as Trieste.
The city is rich in cultural heritage, which is reflected in its Venetian architecture. Discover magnificent palaces and churches that bear witness to the long history of Venetian rule. And don’t forget: the historic salt flats, which once formed the economic basis of the city, are well worth a visit and offer interesting insights into the local culture.
Portorož
A place of relaxation and luxury
After our stay in Piran, we continue our journey to Portorož. This elegant seaside resort, often referred to as the Slovenian Monaco, impresses with its imposing hotels, magnificent buildings, and the luxurious Kempinski Palace Hotel. Here you have the opportunity to relax on the beach or try your luck at the casino.
Enjoy the sun on the Adriatic coast, feel the refreshing breeze, and let yourself be enchanted by the atmosphere of Portorož. Whether you want to go sightseeing, shopping, or just relax, this trip has something for everyone!
I would be delighted to accompany you and your group as we discover the fascinating facets of Piran and Portorož together!
