It’s not just about the hiking itself, but rather about a holistic experience: stunning landscapes, fascinating stories about nature and culture as well as unforgettable moments of enjoyment in the Tyrolean mountains.
The historic Kaiserlift in Kufstein is a special experience in its own right. Riding this nostalgic single-chairlift, we glide comfortably up to 1,256 meters above sea level and enjoy magnificent views of Kufstein, the Inn Valley, and the surrounding mountains along the way.
There are three different options to choose from around the mountain station—ranging from a leisurely mountain experience to a varied day hike.
Option 1: Enjoying the Mountains Without a Long Hike
Panoramic Views & a Stop for Refreshments at the Weinbergerhaus
After taking the Kaiserlift up the mountain, it’s just a few minutes’ walk to the Weinbergerhaus, right next to the mountain station. Here, we enjoy a magnificent panoramic view of the Inn Valley and the Tyrolean mountains while taking a leisurely break.
This option is particularly well-suited for guests who want to experience the magic of the mountains without having to go on a long hike—it’s also ideal for classic mountain sightseeing and leisurely excursions.
Note: The Kaiserlift is not wheelchair-accessible. Unfortunately, walkers cannot be transported on the lift. For guests with limited mobility or who use hiking poles, this option is very well suited—depending on their personal fitness level.

Option 2: The Perfect Short Hike in the Mountains with a Stop for Refreshments
A Leisurely Hike to the Aschenbrennerhaus
From the mountain station, our trail leads us gently downhill along a beautiful scenic path to the cozy Aschenbrennerhaus. There, we can enjoy a relaxing break with magnificent views of Kufstein and the Inn Valley.
There are two options for the return trip:
- Hike back to the mountain station (about 1 hour uphill) and ride down the valley on the Kaiserlift
- Continue down to the midway station and enjoy a leisurely ride down to the valley on the lift
An ideal option for anyone who wants to combine a short hike with a chance to enjoy nature and a stop at a Tyrolean inn.

Option 3: Day Hike in the Wilder Kaiser Mountains
The Great Kaiser Loop Hike
One of the most beautiful day hikes in Tyrol takes you to the impressive north face of the Wilder Kaiser—a tour that uniquely combines nature, history, and cuisine.
Together, we’ll head to Kufstein to visit the historic Kaiserlift, one of Austria’s last remaining single-seat chairlifts. Even the leisurely ride up to 1,256 meters above sea level is an experience in itself.
Once at the top, an impressive view of the Inn Valley unfolds before us. From here, we delve into the history of this region: For centuries, the Inn River was one of Tyrol’s most important trade routes. Long before the railroad was built, riverboats on the Inn transported salt, wood, wine, and many other goods through the valley.
From the mountain station, our trail leads toward Gamskogel. After a pleasant climb, we reach a stunning viewpoint overlooking the Kaiserbach Valley and the imposing rock faces of the Wilder Kaiser.
The trail continues through beautiful alpine pastures, past the Obere Steinbergalm, to the rustic Kaindlhütte.
Here we enjoy authentic Tyrolean hospitality with regional specialties such as freshly prepared Kaiserschmarrn, homemade Kaspressknödel, bacon and cheese sandwiches, and seasonal cakes.
Well-fed, we hike back to the mountain station and enjoy the impressive scenery of the Wilder Kaiser once again.
Along the way, we’ll discover the fascinating natural beauty of this region: blooming alpine meadows dotted with gentians and alpine roses, the impressive limestone formations of the Kaiser Mountains, and—with a little luck—chamois or marmots in their natural habitat.
