Salzburg & Salzkammergut
Culture, history, and nature—personally guided by Moni from Tyrol
Feel the inspiration: Salzburg—the birthplace of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart—delights visitors with its Baroque splendor, musical history, and alpine backdrop. But it’s not just the city itself that makes this region unique; it’s also the historic routes leading there and the dreamlike lake landscape of the Salzkammergut.
As a state-certified Austria Guide, I will accompany you personally—with in-depth knowledge, lively stories, and genuine enthusiasm.
From Tyrol to Salzburg – History at the Strub Pass
Our panoramic drive takes us past the “Kleine Deutsche Eck” and the historic Strub Pass near Lofer.
In May 1809, a dramatic chapter in the Tyrolean struggle for freedom unfolded here:
When Napoleon Bonaparte marched on Vienna, he wanted to bring Tyrol completely under his control. Marshal Lefèbvre advanced from Salzburg via the Strub Pass, while Bavarian troops occupied the Lower Inn Valley.
Tyrolean riflemen led by Andreas Hofer defended the pass for nine hours. Despite fierce resistance, the enemy finally broke through. The events left behind severe devastation in the Tyrolean lowlands—a moving piece of history that we bring to life on this route.

Optional: Schafberg Railway or Wolfgangsee boat trip
A ride on the historic Schafberg Railway is an unforgettable experience.
The journey on Austria’s steepest cog railway takes a good 35 minutes to climb to just below the 1,783-meter summit of the Schafberg – and it could easily take longer, such is the impressiveness of the constantly changing views of Lake Wolfgang and the surrounding mountains.

Alternatively or additionally recommended: a relaxing boat trip on Lake Wolfgang, where the towns and mountain panoramas look particularly picturesque from the water.
